The Grumpy is coming to The 5th Annual South Bay Music Awards Monday April 27 2009 AT The World famous Irvine Improv at the Irvine Spectrum

Bio Cameron of The Grumpy

Cameron, lead singer for The Grumpy achieved early recognition for his musical ability in playing and composing when he created and played the original musical score for “Van Gogh: How Can We Make Our Pictures Speak,” (Doniel Soto) an edgy modern version of the impressionist painter’s life and wound up going off-off Broadway with project after workshopping the show at the University of Southern California when he was still in high school. Cameron already had mastered several instruments by then, including piano, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, drums, bass and was busy developing music for his rock band. Since then, Cameron has played in several bands, including The Outlaw Josie Wales Band, hip hop group Hurchu and others. The Grumpy plays regularly in the Sacramento and Los Angeles area, including venues such as the Whisky-A-Go-Go, The Viper Room, The Roxy Theater and other world famous venues. They can be heard on 98.5 Rock in the Sacramento area, as well as Indie 104 in the L.A. area and a few stations throughout the U.S. and France. The Grumpy has been featured in MUEN Magazine, Submerge Magazine, Sacramento News and Review, What's Up Magazine, Music Connection Magazine, Sacramento Bee, L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly and several other publications.

When The Grumpy took their show to The Whisky-A-Go-Go, an internet radio station offered to demo their songs and they wound up being the top requested rock songs for about three months running. Cameron continues to create music with his own unique edge and has been referred to as the Mozart of Rock by some of his fans. Cameron knows a good thing when he sees it and that awesome drummer J.W., was also rocking out with him from the beginning, one of the few who could keep up! Today, the band consists of Cameron (guitar/vocals), Justin "Tach" Taylor (bass) and J.W. Brooks (drums) and has acheived a certain zen with this line-up that has lead to incredibly fast songwriting and development.
